Time - Frequency Analysis of Seismic Sequences 1

چکیده
Re ection patterns play an important role in seismic sequence stratigraphy, therefore making their quantitative description essential for the construction and validation of sequence stratigraphic models from seismic data. The characteristics of a seismic re ection pattern can be elicited from the data by representing the data as a joint function of time and frequency. Developments in the eld of time-frequency analysis have led to t f representations with better resolution than can be obtained with classical methods for local frequency analysis. This justi es a study of the application of these new representations to the analysis of seismic data. Some examples of the t f representation of the seismic response of layered sequences are given. They clearly show the contribution of the stratigraphic sequence to the spectral content of the data. As an illustration of how sequence stratigraphic models can be constructed from a t f representation it is shown how the observed pattern in real seismic data can be matched to a sequence model.

Application of Single-Frequency Time-Space Filtering Technique for Seismic Ground Roll and Random Noise Attenuation
Time-frequency filtering is an acceptable technique for attenuating noise in 2-D (time-space) and 3-D (time-space-space) reflection seismic data. The common approach for this purpose is transforming each seismic signal from 1-D time domain to a 2-D time-frequency domain and then denoising the signal by a designed filter and finally transforming back the filtered signal to original time domain. ...

Seismic waves are non-stationary due to its propagation through the earth. Time-frequency transforms are suitable tools for analyzing non-stationary seismic signals. Spectral decomposition can reveal the non-stationary characteristics which cannot be easily observed in the time or frequency representation alone. Various types of spectral decomposition methods have been introduced by some resear...

Background and objective: Estimating the vulnerability rate of urban textures in seismic incident following a major earthquake (aftershocks) is crucial in decision making and crisis management. For this purpose, it is necessary to calculate the vulnerability of buildings due to the successive incidents and to use them in the vulnerability estimation for probable future aftershocks. Seismic frag...

The improvement in the temporal resolution of seismic data is a critical issue in hydrocarbon exploration. It is important for obtaining more detailed structural and stratigraphic information. Many methods have been introduced to improve the vertical resolution of reflection seismic data. Each method has advantages and disadvantages which are due to the assumptions and theories governing their ...
